Scheduling Heterogeneous Autonomous Sensor Platforms Using a Hybrid Optimization Approach

Sensor management involves scheduling a variety of sensors and sensor platforms over a series of tasks and objectives. Our previous work in this area used a swarm intelligence algorithm called Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) to schedule mobile sensor platforms. Here, we present a hybrid optimization approach that uses two variations of ACO to schedule both mobile sensor platforms and fixed-location sensor platforms. Signal propagation models are used to augment the capabilities of our optimization algorithm.
