Developing a Software Project Team through Mentoring

Project team development is a critical component of effective human resources management. Mentoring is a technique that can help bridge the gap between the theoretical foundations of software engineering and the practical implementations of software systems. Mentorship involves an experienced professional guiding or coaching a less experienced junior in some skill or career path. Mentors are men and women who impact the lives of others by offering their time and energy to "pass on strategies, values, skills and knowledge." In this paper, I explore the use of mentoring as a project management tool to foster good communication among a project team and ultimately to deliver better products.
